"Paint a Property" Raffle: The Hardy Gallery's 2010 Raffle!

Last year, the Hardy Gallery embarked on a VERY successful raffle that we called "Hawaii on the Hardy." It offered the winner an all-expenses-paid trip to a beautiful Hawaiian beach resort and air fare from any major airport hub in the United States. We were able to donate $1,000 of the raffle proceeds to Door CANcer, Inc. - a Door County non-profit organization that helps families who are affected by cancer in their time of need. This year, we've come up with something even better than a trip to a tropical island (yes, you heard it right!), which is the chance to own a work of art that is ALL your own, painted by one of three professional Door County artists.

The raffle, called "Paint a Property," is a chance to win a commissioned portrait of a property of your choice. Each of the three professional Door County artists - Wayne Caldwell Simmons, Frances Vail, and Emmett Johns will work with the winner to paint a home, a cottage, or a family landmark that is important to you. Wayne Simmons is best known for his dog portraits, so if you'd rather have him paint a pet and not a property, that is entirely possible! Participants in the raffle will get to indicate what artists they'd like for the commissioned work by dropping their raffle tickets in the appropriate artist's jar at the Hardy Gallery.

Raffle tickets are $5/each or $20 for five tickets, with the proceeds to benefit the Hardy. As part of our ongoing "Art from the Heart" initiative, the Hardy plans to gift 10% of the proceeds made on the raffle to Door County's chapter of Habitat for Humanity. It's a great way to commemorate a place that is special to you, all the while making it possible for a Door County resident to have a special place of their own! The drawing for the raffle will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 6 pm at the Wild Tomato Wood-Fired Pizza & Grille in Fish Creek (right across the street from the Fish Creek entrance to Peninsula State Park). The Wild Tomato features a special off-menu "Donation Creation" pizza every month, in which a selected non-profit gets $1.00 donated back to their organization for every Donation Creation pizza ordered. The Hardy has been selected as the Wild Tomato's Donation Creation for October, so please join us for the raffle drawing...and stay for what just might be the best pizza in Door County!

Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Hardy Gallery on Anderson Dock or at the Hardy Gallery office (located in the Ephraim Historical Foundation's Svalhus) across the street from the Gallery on Anderson Lane. For more information on the raffle, please call the Hardy at 920.854.2210 or email info(at)thehardy.org for more information.
