This exhibit features a variety of works that utilize the "form follows function" design aesthetic. All works are functional in design and use.

 

Deck the Halls

This exhibit is a two-week long display of fun, seasonal decorations and gifts created by local artists.

 

Shikishi: Gifts for the New Year

December 13, 2003 - January 31, 2004
Shikishi is an ancient Japanese tradition in which in a small format is created to honor a special occasion. Shikishi created for this exhibit will express in images, words or both, the artists ideas, wishes and hopes - personal, national or global - for the New Year.

Common Ground Project

The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts Common Ground art project is a collaboration of artists, writers, musicians and scientists focusing on the interplay of natural beauty and environmental issues in the Door Peninsula. This innovative exhibit seeks Common Ground by involving the community and encouraging cooperation among artists, scientists, businesses, and the area’s residents and visitors. The hardy views this exhibit as a ground breaking way to initiate dialogue, encouraging people to draw their own conclusions from the art and scientific information presented.

Dan Anderson Invitational

For the past two years, fine art photographer Dan Anderson has explored the graffiti covered walls of the Anderson Warehouse on Ephraim's historic Anderson Dock. Using state of the art equipment, Anderson documented how man, for over a century, has left his unique markings on the exterior walls of the national landmark. 

 

Unique Markings: Visual Anthropology Exhibit

This international, juried fine art photography exhibit highlights works depicting the visual evidence of mankind's self-expression. From ancient civilizations, humans have found creative ways to visually display their personal interpretation of life around them.

Art collectors were invited to exhibit artworks from personal collections that have significant meaning. The collector will accompany each piece of artwork with a statement as to why the artwork(s) are of importance.

The Creative Process: "Mini" Studio Exhibit

August 24 - October 8, 2007
This exhibit draws special attention to the dynamic, elusive and infectious creative process used in art making. Through collaboration with nine Door County artists, the gallery has been transformed into individual studios that illuminate the process and means by which professional artists use to create their livelihood. How do artists find inspiration to create new work? The exhibit will visually explain the process and inspire new ways of thinking about painting, fiber, wood, clay, printmaking and even your own creativity!
