Carolyn Simpson has been painting watercolor for about thirteen years. She has read and studied dozens of books on drawing and watercolor painting and often enjoyed the study of art more than the creation of it. However local success gave her confidence to turn a bedroom into a studio, and her work has earned her memberships and awards with the Wauwatosa Artists Workshop, League of Milwaukee Artists, and the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, where she currently serves on the board. Her work was juried seven years into the Watercolor Wisconsin exhibit at the Racine Art Museum and three years into the Interfaith Program for the Elderly Lifetime Art Competition in Milwaukee. A solo exhibit of thirty-two paintings at her local library was one of the highlights of her artistic pursuits. A former librarian and corporate foundation executive, Carolyn now enjoys sharing her unique way of seeing beauty in things that are common, lost, old, discarded, weak or fleeting through the medium of watercolor.
