Colleen Gunderson was born in Milwaukee and currently resides in central Wisconsin. Best known for her photographs of the natural world, her work focuses on highlighting subtle beauty and naturally occurring connections. Emphasizing specific elements and locations reveals the poetic aspects of everyday life. Birds, branches, sky, and water frequently help tell the story. Pigment-based ink and 100% cotton rag fiber paper provide rich depth and texture to the finished prints.
Gunderson has shown her work in numerous juried group exhibitions throughout the state, notably at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay, the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay, and Walker’s Point Center for the Arts in Milwaukee where she received the First Place award in 2012. She served on the Advisory Board of the Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point for three years. Affiliations include Professional-level membership in the Wisconsin Visual Artists.
