I enjoy photographing old things, particularly things that are in danger of passing out of use. Anything that represents a way of life that is sadly disappearing is fair game for me. I try to capture the beauty of an old subject, sometimes even in the midst of its decay. I especially like to challenge myself to find a way to look at my subject so that the viewer can get a new insight into it, even though it might be familiar to him or her.

My favorite images are monochrome. The play of light and shadow, the uncomplicated beauty of line and shape without the intrusion of color, and the drama that is sometimes produced by the contrast and starkness of the image are what I appreciate most.
