Color, shadows, and diagonals are important compositional elements of Wiklund’s artwork. Using traditional oils on canvas and prepared wood panels, she recreates places, objects and scenes with a strong personal connection. Growing up in a family of carpenters and architects may be why she enjoys painting structures and city scenes, although a life-long respect for the land and love of open space is evident in her landscapes.
Wiklund’s paintings are regularly juried into local, Midwestern, and national exhibitions. She is a member of the South Central chapter of Wisconsin Visual Artists, participates annually in the Hardy Gallery’s Community Mosaic Project, and has served as coordinator for Madison’s Wisconsin Regional Artist Program. Wiklund also serves on the University of Wisconsin Credit Union’s Audit Committee as well as the Board of Directors for Groundswell, a non-profit conservation organization in Southern Wisconsin.
