Martha Coaty (b. 1960) is a photographer living in Wisconsin. She graduated in 1984 with a BA in journalism/art from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Practicing photography throughout her life, she emphasizes simplicity and emotion of her subjects. Her award winning work has been in many juried exhibits throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest region, including: 2016 Wisconsin Artists Biennial at Museum of Wisconsin Art; The Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay, 2010 through 2017, The Hardy Gallery Annual Juried Show 2011 through 2018, Wisconsin Photography 2012 consecutive through 2018 at Racine Art Museum, Racine, Wisconsin; Charles Allis Art Museum, Forward: A Survey of Wisconsin Art Now in 2012, 2014 and 2016 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Photo Midwest, Madison, Wisconsin 2016; Coalition of Photographic Arts annual Midwest Juried Exhibitions; and Manhattan Arts in New York, New York.
Her work is in the permanent collections at Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; Racine Art Museum in Racine; Wisconsin; and Mosaic Arts in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
