Wisconsin Idea Relief Alphabet Project -  Large Scale Steamroller Prints Event

Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 2nd & Sunday Sept. 3rd, 12pm - 5pm

The Hardy Gallery is actively seeking participants for the Wisconsin Idea Relief Printmaking Alphabet Project. As part of our Large Scale Steamroller prints event, the Hardy is providing free 7x7” MDF blocks for carving. Each participant will be assigned a character (Letter or Special Character, A, B, C, $, @, &) and asked to create an illuminated letter in any font with a Wisconsin-based image integrated into the character. Completed blocks will be assembled together to form a giant illuminated alphabet and printed with an industrial sized steamroller, which will act as a press to deliver the relief image of the carvings onto paper.

The Hardy Gallery is working in collaboration with Chris Style – UW Green Bay Printmaking Department, Barry Carlsen-  UW-Madison Printmaking Department, and Tori Tasch – Wisconsin Visual Artists & Redline Printmaking, Milwaukee. The Large Scale Steamroller prints event is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 2nd and 3rd from 12p.m. – 5p.m. on Anderson Dock, outside the Hardy Gallery. Participation is free and open to the public.
